Lucien

  • Easter egg hunting-how many eggs were hidden? How many eggs are left? Subtraction.
  • Visit to CMU for play at the number park creating games with numbers and jumping.
  • Video games: how many more points are needed to unlock different characters?

  • Hike at King’s Estate
  • In the Lego Marvel video game, Lucien creates his own characters, and gives them names, with help with spelling and counts and subtracts to see how many character spaces he has left.
  • Lucien has been practicing a lot of reading via Minecraft world naming and crafting, Pokemon character names and video games with detailed story lines.
  • Egg dying – using various techniques to create different effects on eggs using different amounts of time, dye, methods, also egg blowing, force and pressure.
  • Using magnifying glass to start fire, lenses, angles, distance, combustible materials and other variables in maximizing potential for fire. Fire safety including working on non combustible surface, keeping flammable materials away, having water available.
  • Lucien uses the microwave and enters in appropriate numbers. Bakes using measurements including fractions

  • Figuring out how much money Scrooge McDuck has. Video using several mathematical techniques to estimate the total value in US dollars of Scrooge McDuck’s fortune (turns out its more money than is in circulation in the entire world.)
  • Using exercise balls with Lucien to learn more about physics, force, direction, inertia.
  • Pet sitting neighbor cat, practiced following directions and taking responsibly for another person’s pet.

  • Went to Japanese Steakhouse and then Dev watched some videos about Japan and the Japanese language and noticed that Japanese works are out together in a similar way that objects are created in Little Alchemy.
  • Playing Minecraft Murder Mystery, using percentages, what percentage chance is it that you are the murderer?
  • What’s the difference between pine trees and spruce trees?
  • Visited Sportsworks at the Carnegie Science Center.
  • Doing a great deal of research on medieval weapons and lore including the mathematics and science of mythological creatures
  • Black Panther
  • Round Hill Park Demonstration Farm

  • Created a book in Minecraft and dictated the text, followed along as I typed words.

  • Read recipes and baking,  using fractions to figure out how many jars of peanut butter we need.
